I have offered homebirth in the midwifery model of care for over fifteen years. I am also an assistant midwife with a New Story Birth Center in Milaca.

My passion for helping women in birth began shortly after the birth of my first child in 1974. Her birth transformed my life. After our sixth child was born, I began apprenticing with my midwife. Through the years I worked as a doula and labor assistant, while continuing to apprentice with Traditional Midwives, Licensed Certified Professional Midwives (CPM’s), and Certified Nurse Midwives (CNM’s). I completed my midwifery training through the Association of Texas Midwives Midwifery Training Program in January of 2004.

In addition to midwifery, I have an interest in teaching women to understand their fertility and how the understanding of their unique biological markers relates to their overall Gyn health. I am a Creighton Model Fertility Care Practitioner and a Naprotechnology Midwifery Medical Consultant. www.naprotechnology.com

As a Certified Professional Midwife, I offer homebirth care to families within a two-hour radius of my home office in Princeton. As a Licensed Midwife I can order lab work and ultrasounds and can offer physician referral when needed. I believe waterbirth can be a safe choice and I help families explore this option.  For most clients, visits are at one of my office locations, though I do come to the home in late pregnancy to help prepare for the birth and I also come after the baby is born to help with breastfeeding and post partum recovery. Additionally, I work with a Board Certified Lactation Consultant if special lactation problems develop.   Birth is a transforming family event and I encourage dad and the kids to accompany mom on her midwifery visits.

I and Doug, my awesome husband of 40 plus years, have birthed six children together, including one by C-section.  Although our six are now all adults, my daughters and daughter-in-law have chosen midwifery care and I’ve had the incredible gift of receiving grandbabies into my own hands. After the joys and struggles of motherhood, we moms are rewarded with the delights of being “gramma.” So far my empty nest is feathered by twenty-one of these joyful, spirited little ones!

I believe that for the vast majority of women, childbirth is a normal physiological process and that God uniquely designed women for the childbearing experience. I seek to partner with birthing families by offering them my training and experience to help achieve a healthy pregnancy and birth and then honoring the decisions they make. My goal is to help couples safely birth in the shelter of their own home while transforming their lives through the process and engraving a life-time of precious birth memories onto their hearts.
