Bella Luna Birth Services
Serving families in Winona, LaCrosse, Albert Lea, Rochester and surrounding areas.
Hello! I am a Certified Professional Midwife here in Winona. I received my training at Maternidad La Luz, a busy birth center and school in El Paso, Texas, along with a homebirth apprenticeship in St Louis, MO. I have been a birthworker since 2004, and have been involved with birth work in the United States and Mexico.
I am passionate about social justice, and began my path to midwifery working in community based doula programs. I am one of the co-founders of the Minnesota Prison Doula Project, an organization that provides pre-natal and parenting education and birth accompaniment for women incarcerated in the state of Minnesota. I have also worked in public health, working with youth experiencing homeless on building healthy relationships and sexual health. I view midwifery as a cornerstone of my activism, and think that midwifery can have a big impact on changing the world and strengthening families. I view birth as a transformative process that can be extremely empowering for families and new parents when they are supported and nurtured through that process.
I recently moved to the Driftless region, where I live with my two beautiful sons. I enjoy learning languages, traveling, learning about plants, and creating art. My family recently returned from living in Mexico for an extended period, and I look forward to serving families in Southeastern Minnesota and surrounding regions.
